Jin Jun Mei is a celebrated black tea from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, it is now considered one of the most expensive teas in the world, rather than using the rough, mature leaves, Jin Jun Mei uses carefully selected leaf buds (and no pine smoke) to craft a naturally sweet and delicate black tea. These loose leaf tea are only harvested before the Qingming festival every spring, this is because after the Qingming festival the weather will become too warm and as a consequence tea leaves will growth too fast to process the bud-rich Jin Jun Mei.Malty and honey-sweet, with the subtle fruity aroma of oranges, this wild-picked bud tea provides a uniquely rich and savoury cup reminiscent of fresh-baked, whole-grain toast with a touch of sweet honey butter on top. The malty profiles of barley and wheat are in the foreground, followed by an aftertaste that reveals the find bud quality of the tea through a fruity scent of oranges. The flavor is much deeper than the aroma, with flavors similar to a miso broth.
