Silver Needle or Bai Hao Yin Zhen or usually just Yin Zhen is the Chinese type of white tea, amongst white teas, this is the most expensive variety and the most prized, as only top buds (leaf shoots) of the camellia sinensis plant are used to produce the tea. Jasmine silver needle produced from silver tip white tea, which is composed of the first downy buds and tips of the tea plant harvested early in the spring, the tea is then lightly scented with jasmine blossoms, giving it a delicate floral flavor. The highest quality jasmine teas are scented by laying a tray of jasmine blossoms underneath a tray of tea leaves overnight, when the jasmine blossoms are at their most fragrant, the blossoms will often be replaced several times over the course of the scenting process.
